The project has made significant progress in promoting the economic empowerment of Indigenous Mayan women by strengthening their productive and entrepreneurial capacities related to melipona beekeeping. From January to May 2025, technical training sessions were conducted to improve honey production, harvesting, and transformation into value-added products such as soaps and creams, thereby increasing the women’s income potential.
A major achievement during this period was the formalization of the Muuch Kaajal Kaboob network, which now allows producers to collectively access inputs, training, financing, and new market channels. This organizational advancement supports economies of scale and strengthens their social enterprise model.
Through collective brands—Yaal Kaab in Yucatán and Kanté Botik in Campeche—the women have successfully introduced their products into local sales outlets and corporate gifting campaigns. This commercial strategy not only increases profitability but also ensures sustainable visibility for their products in the long term.
In addition, a meliponiculture-based tourism model is currently in development, with a demonstration event scheduled for May. This initiative aims to diversify income sources even further for the women involved.
