Challenge

Venezuelan children, particularly those from low-income areas have limited or no physical access to the country's most spectacular and culturally significant natural sites, specifically the Canaima National Park (UNESCO World Heritage site). This creates a disconnect where a significant part of the population is unable to experience their natural and cultural heritage, which hinders the development of ecological awareness and national pride.

Solution

The purpose of Join Tepui is to democratize access to Venezuela's natural and cultural heritage by providing an immersive and educational experience of the Canaima National Park (UNESCO World Heritage site) to 2,000 low-income children in 10 public schools in Caracas. Using VR/AR technology, the project seeks to inspire ecological awareness, promote indigenous culture, and foster sustainable tourism and national pride.

Long-Term Impact

This project has the potential to create a profound and multi-generational impact across educational, cultural, environmental, and economic sectors in Venezuela. It is a model for using technology not just for access, but as a vehicle for socio-economic transformation and cultural preservation. The project cultivates deep ecological awareness and a personal connection to nature. This exposure is likely to foster a generation that is more motivated to advocate for and practice conservation
