From "hustling" to a career

By Tyrone Bennett | CEO of Action Change

Hey everyone, Ty here!

We’ve all seen it: some of the most creative, driven, and hardworking people on the planet live in our rural partner communities. But here’s the kicker—having a great idea and the drive to work is only half the battle. If you don't have access to the basic tools, the training, or a computer to log your accounts, it’s like trying to build a house with just a hammer and some string.

The "Business Skills" missing link We’re launching a brand new Business Skills Centre, and it’s all about closing that gap! We aren't here to teach complex corporate theory; we’re here to give local community members the practical, hands-on skills they need to turn their side-hustles into sustainable careers.

We’re talking:

  • Tech Skills: Access to computers and the internet so people can actually market their products beyond their village.

  • Financial Literacy: Learning how to manage cash flow and savings so that a good month doesn't get wiped out by a bad week.

  • Networking: Bringing people together to share their wins, help each other solve problems, and collaborate on local projects.

Why it matters When a local entrepreneur succeeds, the whole community wins. They hire their neighbors, they buy from local suppliers, and they build a cycle of wealth that stays right where it’s needed. This is how we move from surviving to thriving!

Little by Little: The Power Play! We have a massive opportunity to stock our centre and kick off our first training rounds during the Little by Little campaign from March 17th – 20th. GlobalGiving is stepping up and 50% matching all donations up to $50, while matching funds remain.

  • A $50 donation from you turns into $75 for us.

  • That extra $25 is the difference between a student having a textbook, a software license, or the stationery they need to launch their business.

These matching funds disappear super fast, so please save the date and jump in on the 17th. Let’s help these entrepreneurs turn their "hustle" into a future!

Stay awesome,
