WEP’s Leadership Academy is an experiential career readiness program. Within a sisterhood of peers, mentors and role models, young women explore 11 career pathways, gaining clarity of their opportunities, abilities and interests and confidence to choose how they want to live, learn, lead and earn.
Entering careers in healthcare, entrepreneurship, law, government service, agriculture, broadcasting, education, the arts, and technology, our alumnae return to inspire and mentor their peers who are just discovering who they want to become. This year 10 graduates launched our Alumnae Fellowship- trained to document and evaluate the program, lead communications and storytelling, and provide career guidance.
According to our 2024-25 Impact Assessment, 89% of employed alumnae are satisfied with their careers. 95% receive their salaries into their own bank accounts, and 91% report participating in family financial decisions.
70 Alumne this year made their first philanthropic donations through our alumnae giving program - for almost all it was the first time anyone in their families had made a philanthropic gift, creating a powerful ripple effect, breaking cycles of poverty and setting new patterns for women in their families and communities.
These excerpts from our end of year report highlight the ways in which our four pillars- the Sisterhood, Career Exploration, the Next Steps Network and our Alumnae Association support students and alumnae to thrive in careers of their own choosing.
