Greetings and Happy Healthy New Year to all,
One of the first events of the year for the children in Mexico is the magical celebration of the arrival of the 3 Kings on January 6th. This pays homage to the kings who visited baby Jesus. The children write letters to the Los 3 Reyes, leave their shoes out, and hay for the camels to awaken to find a small toy or gift.
Also traditional is La Rosca de Reyes. 3 Kings cake. Finding the baby Jesus in your piece of cake, is good luck and prosperity but also the responsibility to host the Tamales for Candlemas on February 2nd commemorating the presentation of Jesus at the temple.
We had a celebration for the kids upon return from their Christmas Vacation. It is always a great way to welcome back the kids and families we serve.
We have much to be grateful for and many goals to achieve. Our continued goal is helping the children in their formal schooling through literacy and tutoring classes. We have English and computer classes as well as art. We provide social and mental health services, all with your continued support.
May this year be healthy and happy
Sincerely
Betty Lopez
