A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has contributed towards building two classrooms for 80 students in Zambia!
We have been having small fundraisers on the ground with our volunteers and the community, and last month we brought in over $200 to go towards this project. The new classrooms will reduce the teacher to student ratio from 1:60 to 1:40 and provide a safe, encouraging learning environment.
Last month our volunteers also had the pleasure of celebrating World Teachers Day with thousands of teachers by marching with the ten teachers of Libuyu East Primary School.
The recent exams that the students took resulted in a pass rate of 71%, and 32 students graduated to secondary school!
Two volunteers offered to repaint a classroom at the school - they purchased the materials and involved three of the students in creating artwork. In addition, they are getting all of the classrooms’ chalkboards repainted, since many are so dull it is impossible to read the board from the back of the room.
We look forward to seeing the continued impact that this project has on the education and futures of the students in the community!
Thank you again for making this possible.
