Your generosity has enabled us to begin the construction of a 3 classroom block which is at the ground-breaking level! This was celebrated with a ‘Breaking the Ground’ ceremony hosted at the school last week.
The sun shone down on us gloriously as we marked a great day for both Libuyu Community School and the African Impact Foundation. Last Tuesday, the school management and community of Libuyu were very excited to see this dream come true!
Our special guest of honour was the District Education Board and his colleagues from the Department of Infrastructure Development. In his speech he encouraged the school and the community to guard the development generously. The ceremony involved poems and cultural dances, and appreciating the donors for what they have done for the school and community.
Sharon, our Sponsor A Child Coordinator, delivered a message of gratitude and hope. Watch here!
You could tell from the atmosphere how happy and thankful the community and children were for the upcoming classrooms. The singing and dancing was great to watch, with the teachers and parents getting involved also - they couldn’t help themselves!
Our hired contractors had cleared and marked the site in preparation for the commencement of work right after the ceremony and the guest of honour kicked off the project by breaking the ground with a pick and shovel.
You couldn’t stop our smiles - it was a great event marking an amazing milestone that could not have been achieved without your generous support! We are so thankful for your donations, and we look forward to sending you the building progress over the next five months!
