We Never Missed School Again” From the Field: Girls Thriving in School and at MHO Rehabilitation & Care Center

Because of You, Girls in Ethiopia Didn’t Miss a Single Day of School

In Ethiopia, September marks more than just the start of a new school year. It’s also a time of financial stress for many low-income families who struggle to afford even the most basic educational materials for their children. But this year, something changed—because of you.

Thanks to your generous donation through our “improve Girls' Education in Ethiopia” initiative, 25 girls from disadvantaged communities are attending school with pride, equipped with the tools they need to succeed. These girls didn’t have to miss a single day of class.

Through your support, we were able to provide a comprehensive support package that goes far beyond notebooks and pens. These 25 girls received:

• Essential school supplies – Notebooks, pens, chalk, and more
• School uniforms and clothing – So they could attend school with dignity
• Hygiene kits – Including sanitary supplies to help them stay in class during their menstrual cycles
• Daily noon meals – Ensuring no child learns on an empty stomach
• Transportation stipends – Removing distance as a barrier to education
• Reproductive health education – Equipping girls with knowledge about their bodies and rights
• Mentorship programs – To inspire, guide, and motivate them on their educational journey

This holistic approach ensures that poverty no longer determines who gets to learn.

The children pictured below are just a few of the real beneficiaries of your kindness. Many come from families unable to afford school fees, meals, or transportation—let alone learning materials. Your donation changed their trajectory.

Today, these girls walk into class with confidence. They raise their hands, read aloud, and dream big. They are no longer at the margins of society—they are at the heart of a better future.

At the MHO Rehabilitation and Care Center, additional support continues for girls who face even greater challenges, including physical or emotional trauma. These young girls now receive the care and stability they need to heal, learn, and thrive.

We are proud to report that the distribution of educational materials will continue through the month of September, reaching even more children in need. Our goal is clear: to ensure that no child is left behind because of poverty, distance, or stigma.
