Finding puppies and kittens dumped on the side of the road happens all too often in rural south Mississippi. Luna and her siblings were just one of the countless litters thrown out like trash. Their only hope is to be found before it is too late. One puppy was deceased by the time we came to the rescue of Luna and her siblings. Dixie Adoptables wants to help every animal possible, but it takes money to pay for their care. We can only do what your donations make it possible for us to accomplish.
Dixie Adoptables is located in a rural part of south Mississippi. This area is mostly populated by people who are struggling financially, but many want a pet. They can't afford to spay or neuter, and this has created the out of control stray and abandoned population that we face daily. Too often the solution in the eyes of these people is to just find a remote location and dump the unwanted babies. These animals, more often than not, require extra medical attention and more resources.
Supporting our efforts not only saves lives, but stops another unwanted litter from entering the community. Every animal that comes into our rescue will be spayed or neutered before adoption. Dixie Adoptables ensure that they receive all required prevention, and any medical care to ensure they are healthy before adoption.
The goal is to reduce the number of unwanted abandoned and stray animals in this community. The burden on those of us in rescue in this area has been almost unbearable, and we hope to lesson the strain over time. This will also reduce the spread of diseases that are currently at an all time high among our feral cat colonies. Dixie Adoptables does work to spay and neuter these colonies as well in the hope that the size of the colonies will shrink.
