There have been some busy, but such impactful times here in Zanzibar in regards to our conservation efforts. Over the past quarter, volunteers from all around the world have joined us in making sure our conservation clubs are ran enthusiastically. Additionally, more boat drivers continue to be ethically trained and past drivers have been busy being recertified.
The goals of the ethical boat driver training workshops are to teach Kizimkazi drivers about protecting the dolphins and create sustainable tourism. Through the help of African Impact staff and volunteers, they are also able to make sure these practices are being used for the rest of their driving days. Last week we started a recertification course with our graduated boat drivers, first with a theory course and then with a practical on the water. We want to make sure they are staying on top of their training, but also have the most up to date information around ethical tourism. All of them are doing great and will be set for the year to come!
Additionally, Conservation Club studnets took their end of the term baseline this week, finishing Module 1, "Protecting Oceans". Almost every student improved their scores from 12 weeks ago, meaning.... drum roll... we will have a full bus for our field trip to Nungwi in a couple of weeks!
The amazing recertifications and conservation club field trips were all possible this year due to your generous donations! Be on the look out for pictures on African Impact's Facebook page for the field trip.
Finally, the Marine Conservation Project was able to celebrate 5 years of impact in Zanzibar! We are so thankful for everyone who has joined our journey thus far and eager to see where the next years take us to spread our impact.
Also, stay in touch with us on African Impact Foundation's Facebook page in the month of November for a chance to win a FREE 2 week placement with African Impact in Zanzibar!
Thank you to all of our amazing donors!
