Dear friends and supporters,
The sacred Melipona beecheii — the stingless bee of the Maya — remains at the heart of our mission. More than just a pollinator, it is a living symbol of harmony between nature and culture. For centuries, the Maya have safeguarded this unique species, passing down traditional knowledge that connects ecological care with spiritual and communal life.
At ICDO, we remain deeply committed to ensuring that both the Melipona beecheii and the wisdom surrounding it continue to thrive. Our goal is to preserve biodiversity while empowering local Maya women and youth as custodians of their cultural and environmental heritage.
Currently, our organization is in the fundraising and preparation phase to relaunch the next stage of this important project. Through our Long Nights of Interculturality initiative and other global awareness efforts, we are working to gather the necessary resources to resume on-site activities — including reforestation, community workshops, and the reintroduction of Melipona beecheii colonies.
Every contribution we receive brings us closer to continuing this journey. Your support helps us protect biodiversity, promote sustainable livelihoods, and honor the deep bond between people and nature that the Melipona beecheii represents.
With gratitude and renewed hope,
The ICDO Team
