The Mental Health Awareness project is designed to reach 500 youth in Rwanda with the aim of increasing understanding of mental health, reducing stigma, and promoting positive coping skills among young people. The project targets adolescents and youth, recognizing that mental well-being is essential for healthy development, education, and community participation.
Objectives
The main objectives of the project are to:
Raise awareness about mental health and emotional well-being among youth
Educate participants on recognizing common mental health challenges
Encourage open discussion to reduce stigma surrounding mental health
Promote healthy coping strategies and help-seeking behavior
Current Status and Challenges
Although the project has been well planned, implementation has not yet begun due to limited financial resources. The lack of sufficient funding has affected the ability to secure training materials, facilitators, venues, and logistical support required to reach the targeted 500 youth.
Conclusion
Despite current funding challenges, the project remains a priority and has strong potential to positively impact youth mental well-being in Rwanda. With adequate financial support, the project can be successfully implemented and contribute to building a more informed, supportive, and mentally healthy generation of young people.
