Ukraine's children are in crisis. Kidsave has evacuated more than 32,000 people-half of them children-from war zones and delivered over 3,000 tons of food, medicine and supplies. But we're also providing healing to children and families. Our Miracles Center in western Ukraine offers war trauma therapy, mentoring, skills training, summer camp, and family-building opportunities-creating hope, connection, and brighter futures.
Before the invasion, over 100,000 children lived in institutional care in Ukraine. The war has further disrupted their lives, leaving thousands at risk of growing up without the skills, support, and adult relationships they need to live independently. Each year, some 10,000-15,000 young people "age out" of care with little or no safety net facing shrinking family connections, scarce vocational training, and limited access to dignified work. The result is hardship for them and their country.
This project helps these underserved youth first by listening to them in order to determine their motivation, interests, and vision of their future; then holding classes led by field specialists to help them learn about their chosen field; then recruiting, screening, and training mentors in those fields, and finally organizing events to match corporate mentors with young individuals and helping find internships and jobs for them. It is still in operation even during the war.
Our project surrounds vulnerable youth with the relationships and tools they need to thrive. Mentoring and family placement ensure that each young person's needs, interests, and vision for the future are central. Trained experts provide trauma therapy, while mentoring coaches lead classes in work readiness and life skills. We recruit, screen, and prepare adoptive families and corporate mentors, creating pathways for youth to build permanent connections and access meaningful guidance.
