Teen Mental Health Project Report

By Team Bumi Sehat | Project Leaders

Dear Friends,

Over the past quarter, Bumi Sehat has expanded its community outreach with Mind Matters, a new pilot program addressing adolescent mental health—an increasingly urgent issue in Indonesia. Through monthly workshops delivered in local schools, the program has already reached at least 100 teenagers aged 13–18, providing practical tools for emotional regulation, stress management, healthy relationships, and peer support.

This initiative represents a new direction for Bumi Sehat. While the clinic has long focused on maternal and reproductive health, our team is responding to growing evidence that mental health challenges among young people are widespread and under-addressed. National data show that approximately one in three Indonesian adolescents experiences symptoms of anxiety or depression, yet stigma and limited services mean many struggle in silence. Despite its scale and urgency, teen mental health remains an area that receives relatively little attention or funding.

Workshops have been well received by students and educators alike, creating safe, inclusive spaces where young people can talk openly, build emotional awareness, and learn coping strategies. Early feedback suggests strong engagement and a clear appetite for continued programming.

With sustained support, Mind Matters has the potential to be integrated into school curricula, replicated in other communities, and developed into an ongoing youth mental health initiative—planting the seeds for resilience, empathy, and lifelong wellbeing.

Love & Gratitude,

Ibu Robin & Team Bumi Sehat
