In Indonesia, 1 in 3 teens experiences anxiety or depression, often unnoticed or untreated. "Mind Matters" empowers youth aged 13-18 with tools for emotional regulation, stress management and healthy relationships. Through our workshops, we facilitate peer support, emotional intelligence, coping skills and stigma reduction. We help teenagers build resilience, seek help early and create a culture of empathy and mental well-being.
Teen mental health in Indonesia is at crisis levels--1 in 3 adolescents experience symptoms of anxiety or depression--yet stigma around mental health topics and limited health services leave many without help. Pressures from school, family changes and social media amplify stress, eroding confidence and connection. Without early support and intervention, teens face emotional stress, low self-esteem and social isolation.
The "Mind Matters" one-year pilot program creates safe, inclusive spaces where teens learn to understand and care for their mental health. Through interactive workshops, practical coping tools and peer support, we help teens gain resilience, improved coping strategies, stress reduction and the courage to seek help. Upon successful completion, this project can be integrated into school curriculum, replicated in other communities and extended to an ongoing teen mental health club.
By equipping teens with emotional skills and supportive networks, we plant seeds for lifelong well-being. Graduates will face challenges with resilience, nurture healthy relationships and reduce both stress in their lives and stigma in their communities. Over time, schools and youth groups can adopt "Mind Matters" as part of their culture, creating a ripple effect of empathy and mental health awareness.
