On the August 11, 2025, a landslide in Namuna Basti,Ward no 1., Narayan Municipality, Dailekh, Sudurpaschim Province, destroyed 44 households. In response, the Women Empowerment Action Forum (WEAF) Nepal (Tewa's grantee partner), with help from Tewa and the local ward office, provided with essential relief (Mattress, Blankets, Rice, Lentils, Edible oil Salt & Pressure cooker) materials to 9 Households out of 44 to the affected families.
The relief efforts focused on providing immediate support to survivors, especially lactating women, person with disabilities and the elderly from the Badi Community. The supplies included food, mattress, blankets and a pressure cooker for each of the nine households. The initiative also offered counseling services to help address social issues like child marriage and alcohol abuse in the community.
WEAF's response was guided by a feminist humanitarian approach, prioritizing the specific needs of vulnerable individuals. The project's success was largely due to strong collaboration with local government and other stakeholders, who ensured accountability and helped, reach the most in- need families. The main challenge was distributing limited resources among a large number of households in extreme poverty, highlighting the critical need for continued support in the area.
