September Update

By Kaitie Newcomb | Communications & Development

Hello friends,

We are so grateful for the many ways God is at work through Special Hope Network. From visitors in Zambia to faithful partners around the world, here are a few glimpses of hope we want to share with you this month:

A Visitor’s Story: Aimee Shearin

“I’m in awe of the work that Special Hope Network does for children with disabilities. They work tirelessly to ensure that each child is seen, loved, and cared for through parent education, community education, and meeting their basic living needs. Many mothers I spoke to as we served in the Community Care Centers came to know Christ through Special Hope Network. They truly are a blessing to their communities and a ray of hope through Christ.” – Aimee Shearin

We love welcoming visitors like Aimee who get to see firsthand the joy and resilience of families raising kids with intellectual disabilities in Zambia.

Church Partners: Giving from the Heart

This summer, several church groups—summer camps, Vacation Bible Schools, and congregations of adults and young people with disabilities—chose to pray and raise funds for Special Hope.

One of these groups was Friendship Club at McLean Bible Church in Virginia (pictured above). Their director Julia shared:

“Thank you for the opportunity to partner with Special Hope again for Friendship Club! Our teens and adults with special needs raised $190 from their own personal money to support you all. We are so proud of them! They are giving from the little they have out of the overflow of their hearts to support you all. Praying this little might be a tremendous, meaningful blessing to you.”

We are deeply moved by the generosity of these groups—it’s a beautiful reminder that every gift matters and every prayer makes a difference.

Thank you for being part of this story of hope. Together, we are creating a world where every child is valued.
