A Permanent Center for Children with Disabilities

For many years, Noor Society for People with Disabilities has been working to support children with disabilities and their families in Bethlehem and surrounding refugee camps. Through rehabilitation, psychosocial support, and community-based services, Noor Society has become a safe space for children who need care, dignity, and opportunity.

Today, we are reaching out with a critical and urgent need.

Despite the growing number of children requiring services, Noor Society does not yet have a permanent building that can sustainably accommodate its expanding programs. Due to severe financial constraints, economic hardship following the war, and the collapse of tourism in Bethlehem, we are currently unable to allocate funds to purchase or construct a permanent center on our own.

For this reason, we are calling upon capable donors, charitable institutions, foundations, and organizations to support us in securing a permanent home for Noor Society.

Why a Permanent Building Is Essential

A dedicated center would allow us to:

Provide continuous and safe rehabilitation services for children with disabilities
Expand physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and special education programs
Create appropriate spaces for psychosocial support for mothers and caregivers
Reduce long-term rental costs and ensure program stability
Reach a larger number of children in urgent need of care

Without a permanent space, our ability to plan, expand, and sustain services remains limited—while the needs continue to grow.

A Lasting Impact: Sadaqah Jariyah (Ongoing Charity)

Supporting the purchase or construction of a permanent center for children with disabilities is a long-term investment in human dignity. It is a form of Sadaqah Jariyah, an ongoing charity that will continue to benefit children and families for generations.

Every therapy session, every child’s progress, and every family supported within this center will be part of a lasting legacy of compassion and care.

Who Will Benefit

Children with physical disabilities
Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Children with intellectual and multiple disabilities
Children with speech and communication disorders

Age range: from early childhood through adolescence, with long-term support for children requiring continuous care.

The proposed center would serve children from Bethlehem, Aida Camp, Al-Azza Camp, Beit Jala, Doha, and Al-Khader
A permanent building would enable partnerships with international donors, UN agencies, and specialized organizations
The center would be designed to be accessible, inclusive, and child-friendly, meeting international disability standards
Long-term sustainability would reduce dependency on unstable rental arrangements and emergency funding

Progress Report - Purchasing a Building for Noor

1. Project Overview

The Noor Charity Center project is a milestone initiative to secure a permanent home for the association in Bethlehem. Owning a dedicated building will allow Noor to expand its programs, improve the quality of services, and provide a safe and accessible space for children and adults with disabilities, as well as for vulnerable women and families.

This future center will not only serve as an administrative base but also become a community hub offering rehabilitation, vocational training, educational programs, and social inclusion activities for those most in need.

2. Progress to Date

Conducted assessments of potential building options in central Bethlehem.
Consulted engineers and architects to evaluate safety and accessibility.
Raised $2,000 so far out of the $600,000 total goal.
Launched outreach campaigns to raise awareness among local and international donors.

4. Current Challenges

The devastating impact of the ongoing war has made fundraising extremely difficult. Many of our local supporters are now struggling with severe financial hardships, and the broader Palestinian community faces unprecedented economic challenges. This has slowed our progress in raising the funds needed to secure the building.

Despite these challenges, Noor remains committed to this goal, as a permanent center will provide a stable, inclusive space to deliver essential services and expand our reach in the community.

5. Next Steps

Expand international fundraising campaigns to reach global donors and organizations.
Explore partnerships to secure partial co-funding for the purchase.
Begin developing plans for renovations to ensure full accessibility once the building is secured.

Purchasing a Building for Noor Charity Center – Progress Update

Noor Society for People with Disabilities continues to work tirelessly to support children with disabilities living in the refugee camps of Bethlehem, especially in Aida and Al-Azza camps. Today, we want to share an update on one of our most urgent and transformative goals: purchasing a building to expand our rehabilitation center.

Currently, Noor Society operates in a very limited space, where we manage to serve approximately 35 children with disabilities. These children benefit from therapies such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and special education. However, the number of children in need is significantly larger. Based on our outreach and community assessment, more than 100 individuals urgently need rehabilitation services in our area—yet we are simply unable to accommodate them due to space limitations.

This is why we are working to purchase a larger building, one that will allow us to increase our capacity, improve our services, and reach at least 100 children and individuals with disabilities. This new center will enable us to provide individualized therapy programs, accommodate more qualified specialists, and improve the overall experience for families and caregivers.

Despite our strong will and growing support, we are still in the process of securing the necessary funds for this critical step. We thank everyone who has donated or shared our campaign so far, and we continue to count on your generosity, solidarity, and advocacy.

This building is not just a structure—it is a promise of dignity, hope, and opportunity for some of the most marginalized children in our society.
