We are thrilled to announce that the Agripreneurship in African Agribusiness training is now live on a free, open-access Platform accessible via www.theagripreneurcourse.org. The initial launch was conducted via a webinar on October 10 with the Agripreneurship Alliance trainers and close partners. The Platform is composed of 7 modules with 25 units supported by 22 practical tools and 63 explanatory videos. These videos are also available on the Agripreneurship Alliance's YouTube channel. In addition, there is a complete course workbook and a facilitators guide. We recommend 1 unit per week (a total of 75 to 100 hours of focused learning) since there is considerable work to be done to conduct the market research, competitor analysis, financial planning, preparation of the pitch etc. to bring together all the information into a final business plan. The formal launch will take place in Gabarone, Botswana on December 3. In the meantime, the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology in Kenya has already selected students to participate in the first cohort. This will provide invaluable feedback as a first pilot.
The next steps include finalising some additional background materials as well as further case study examples. We have received several requests to translate the Training into other languages. We are currently seeking funding for a French translation that would have immediate application in Mauritania as well as in other francophone african countries.
