Nutritionist Program for Children

Our mission to feed children during school started a Nutritionist program supported by a group of professionals.
The objective is to detect children’s nutritional imbalances or illnesses related to nutrition. Fifty children out of the three hundred children we feed were chosen. Children who need help will have their own procedures according to what the child needs to improve their health. The follow-up will have periodic checkups and continued support to mothers and children´s main caretaker.
Finally, this being the second school year after the pandemic, the number of beneficiaries is growing.
We need your support to keep feeding healthy meals to school children. We believe a child learns better with a full stomach. Nutrition will guarantee healthy physical, cognitive and social development to these children.

End of School Year

Post pandemic school year 2021-2022 had a hard time incorporating teaching and learning under COVID regulations. The student´s school attendance continued with a weekly rotating calendar all through the end of the school year. To start a hybrid education meant to create new routines and schedules where Sarahuaro school kitchens adapted to it and created new strategies in order to not let any children in the program without feeding. Sarahuaro gave the parents the option to pick up the children´s lunch when the student had to stay home. And kept feeding children during days off and long weekends.
Sociability among the students was finally more permitted by the end of the year, and the use of masks, hand cleaning, and the use of antiseptic will continue until new notice.
We had gift distributions during special occasions and made big smiles experiences for our beneficiaries. We are so grateful for your donations! THANK YOU!

Back To Normality

Finally, after 2 years of school lockdown due to the COVID 19 pandemic, we are currently feeding children as we just to do it before the pandemic! Children are currently gathering on the Sarahuaro dining terrace of the Leonardo Gastelum Elementary School, and at the dining palapa in the Nueva, Creación Elementary School. Both public schools are located in the most impoverished areas of Cabo San Lucas Baja California Mexico. During the first school semester when schools reopen starting September 2021, Mexico also went through the second wave of the pandemic, and not all parents sent their kids to school. The school students' rotations and the covid regulation of healthy distance made the school experience complex and uncomfortable for kids, teachers, and parents. Even though we reached the families and feed them through the lockdown we couldn't protect them from the negative impact such as social, emotional, and learning lag all these circumstances have had.
Not until the beginning of April did schools announce that after Easter break all children will attend school every day, from Monday through Friday. Being that our dining spaces are beautifully full of children, and with the spirit of joy and service, we feed children a warm healthy meal every day just as we used before the pandemic lockdown.
