Due to a devastating cloudburst, massive floods have ravaged KPK, Azad Kashmir and GB, sweeping away homes, bridges, and roads. Over 300 lives have been lost, and nearly 700,000 homes have been destroyed, leaving countless families homeless. Rescue operations are underway, with Al-Mustafa's teams on the ground providing emergency medical aid, relief supplies, and evacuation support to affected communities. The scale of destruction highlights urgent needs for shelter, food, and medical aid.
The greenhouse effect and rising global temperatures are setting off chain reactions of cloud bursts and floods in mountainous regions, causing sudden calamity for which people are not even alarmed. These floods displaced thousands of families and have left hundreds dead, injured and sick. Damaged houses, livestock, crops, roads and bridges have shattered the local and national economies.
Al-Mustafa's Disaster Relief Teams have rescued thousands of people trapped in the water through helicopters and boats and have delivered cooked food, baby food, rations, medical aid, tents, water filtration devices, mosquito nets/repellants, bedding, etc., to 1.7 million beneficiaries in the devastating floods of 2022. Once again, our teams have responded to the call to rescue and relief and are on the ground providing urgent relief and medical aid to the victims.
These deadly rains have also economically destroyed the affected areas and populations, killed livestock, and crippled transportation and commerce by flushing roads and destroying bridges. Recovery will be a long road for families who have lost everything. Al-Mustafa also plans to rehabilitate the victims by supporting them economically, building their homes, and repairing/reconstructing destroyed local infrastructure, including schools, healthcare centres etc.
