Seeds of Change: A Journey of Learning & Joy at Hamara Apna School
Quarterly Report | April–June 2025
Academic Growth Rooted in Innovation
This quarter at Hamara Apna School (HAS) has been a story of transformation. Our students are not just learning — they’re thriving. With a targeted focus on mathematics, literacy, and creative expression, the school has seen measurable progress across core subjects.
In collaboration with the LUMS practicum team, the Numeracy Toolkit was fully rolled out. Through surveys, hands-on activities, and recorded learning moments, students began applying math to real-life scenarios—bridging the gap between numbers and their daily lives. Teachers, too, reported increased engagement and understanding.
Adding to this momentum, we introduced a series of 10 instructional videos showing how everyday household items can become powerful learning tools. This low-cost, high-impact initiative not only enriched classroom resources but also empowered both students and teachers to think creatively, learn resource-building skills, and embrace experiential education.
Regular academic routines have boosted students’ confidence in sentence construction, word formation, and multiplication tables, reflecting steady improvement in classroom assessments.
Creative Expression & Emotional Engagement
At HAS, creativity is not a subject—it’s a language.
Students immersed themselves in drawing and Big Draw activities, enhancing both motor skills and visual thinking. The school library remained a vibrant hub with regular storytelling sessions and free reading time, cultivating curiosity and a lifelong love of books.
Children’s bond with the school was seen most beautifully in the after-hours—many returned voluntarily to water plants and care for the garden, a true sign of emotional ownership and pride in their space.
As part of Alif Laila’s outreach, HAS students were also part of interactive storytelling sessions with renowned local and international guests, including Omer Abed and Margriet Ruurs, giving students a window into new cultures and voices through the timeless art of storytelling.
Eid Gifts & New Beginnings
To celebrate Eid and support continued learning at home, new stationery and notebooks were distributed to every student. The spark in their eyes was unforgettable—proof that even small gestures can ignite big motivation.
Upcycling Wonder: Learning Through Play
Sustainability met imagination when Alif Laila Book Bus Society sent old toys to be upcycled into innovative learning tools. In addition, donated clothes are being repurposed as costumes for student role-play activities—adding color, drama, and joy to classroom experiences. These steps encourage environmental awareness while enriching play-based learning, especially in early years.
A Digital Window to the World
To amplify our impact and document our journey, HAS officially launched its Instagram page. This platform now showcases student creativity, project highlights, and daily learning in action. Linked with Alif Laila’s main channels, this digital footprint ensures real-time visibility, community connection, and greater donor transparency.
Celebrating the Journey
Before closing for summer, the school hosted a joyful Closing Party—a celebration of progress and perseverance. With storytelling, games, and shared meals, students left for break with smiles and a strong sense of belonging.
Looking Ahead
HAS reopens in early August 2025, ready to welcome students for a vibrant new term. We’ll kick off with spirited Independence Day celebrations, featuring student-led performances, creative displays, and themed learning activities to honor Pakistan’s heritage and future.
This quarter has been more than a set of activities—it’s been a testament to the power of love, learning, and low-cost innovation. Every small step we’ve taken has sown the seeds for a brighter, more inclusive future—and none of this would be possible without your continued support.
Thank you for walking this journey with us.
