This September, as civil unrest in the capital created uncertainty across the country, Two Worlds Cancer Collaboration volunteer doctors traveled to Nepal as part of our ongoing commitment to support local and regional partners in strengthening palliative care. They joined colleagues in Kathmandu to mark the 25th anniversary of Hospice Nepal and to advance plans to expand services across the country.
With your support, Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital is expanding home visits and rural outreach, while also strengthening its role as a teaching centre. Two senior nurses are now undertaking advanced training and a qualified palliative care physician has joined the team.
In Dharan, TWCC sponsored hospital staff to build their skills through specialized training, and conversations are underway to adapt a proven rural care model from Makwanpur District that connects health workers to families in need.
These developments build on the 2017 National Strategy for Palliative Care, which TWCC helped develop, and which was updated this year with the Nepal Palliative Care National Strategy 2025-2035.
We are deeply grateful for your continued support and generousity, which is helping this important work grow and bring compassionate care to more hospitals, homes and villages across Nepal.
