In India, an estimated 5.4 million people living with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses need palliative care each year to ease their pain, often chronic and debilitating. With pain relief comes a better quality of life -- and the chance to make the days remaining the best they can be, whether in hospital, hospice or at home.
With a commitment to ensuring that everyone has access to compassionate care, when and where they need it, we continue to grow our partnerships and programs. In 2024, the internationally recognized Hyderabad Home Care Program provided comfort, dignity, and medical support to more than 12,000 adults and nearly 4,000 children in their own homes. New facilities at MNJ Institute and Niloufer Hospital are expanding staff and adding dedicated spaces for counselling, spiritual care and hospice beds.
One example is in Chennai, where a TWCC-supported leadership program is expanding access to care. For one young cancer patient, Bhuvanesh, palliative care means preserving his artwork in a memory book -- a way for his family to honour his creativity and spirituality. It’s a reminder that this work is about compassionate care for the whole family during life’s most difficult times.
Your generosity makes this possible. On behalf of Two Worlds Cancer Collaboration, thank you for continuing to support expanded home, hospice and hospital-based care across India.
