Prey Preah Roka Tree Ordination Ceremony
On February 13–14, 2025, Ponlok Khmer, together with the Prey Preah Roka Community Network, organized the 8th Prey Preah Roka Tree Ordination Ceremony across three districts of Preah Vihear Province: Tbaeng Meanchey, Chey Sen, and Choam Ksan. The ceremony honored ancestors and guardian spirits of the forest, offering prayers of gratitude for their protection and seeking blessings of peace and prosperity for future generations.
More than a spiritual gathering, the event also raised awareness on the importance of preserving Prey Preah Roka as a national asset. A total of 397 participants signed in, including 190 women, 147 youth, 9 monks, 12 forest rangers, and 151 Indigenous people. Community leaders, youth, and local participants were encouraged to carry forward forest protection as both a cultural and environmental responsibility.
By combining ritual, education, and community mobilization, the 8th Tree Ordination reaffirmed solidarity among forest communities and strengthened collective action for conservation.
