Dear HOPE Supporter,
Did you know that every year it is estimated that 13,000 permanent disabilities in children in Bangladesh are caused by accidents such as burn? Burn ranks as in the top 3 injuries that cause complete debilitation of children, rendering them unable to attend school. Often these children resort to begging on the street as there are scarce resources for disabled children in rural areas. In addition to providing corrective surgery for these victims, HOPE wants to put an end to preventable injuries.
HOPE's Mothers' Clubs provide the perfect forum for our doctors and nurses to educate these women leaders of rural villages on the precautions they should take for their children, how to avoid burn accidents, and appropriate response in the event an injury occurs. We believe firmly in providing care where care was not available before, but really addressing and mitigating the actual problem before it even happens. Our education seminars to our Mothers' Clubs have proved beneficial as many families had never thought of preventive measures they can take to protect their children. We will continue to work for the children in Bangladesh.
Best Regards,
Ashley Pugh
