Dear HOPE Supporter,
Thank you for making our third burn camp a HUGE success! On April 3rd through April 9th, our partner ReSurge International's in-country lead surgeon along with two assistant surgeons and an anesthesiologist hosted the third burn camp at HOPE Hospital. In total, 30 patients received life-changing surgery! This is ReSurge International's third visit to HOPE Hospital, in total providing 94 burn reconstruction surgeries. We are so grateful to have this partnership and provide this service which is much needed.
Prior to the camp, HOPE staff conducted a massive awareness campaign that involved going to distant communities to seek patients needing care. The need is so extensive in rural Bangladesh, where the use of open fires for cooking leads to a high number of burn victims. As always, ReSurge International helps train HOPE's staff so that we may provide better care for patients arriving with burn injuries. Treating burn appropriately in the first instance is crucial.
