Dear HOPE Supporter,
Finding patients in remote areas is difficult work considering many villages are difficult to reach. We had to think of a way to reach more patients in remote regions in a sustainable way, and that is when we came up with the Village Provider Network. This network is made up of village pharmacists who are leaders in their villages and sought after for medical advice. We thought if we can include them in our network, educate them on pertinent issues, diseases and the services we offer, developing a referral system would be momentous in referring patients. So that is what we did.
At the end of 2015 we brought 50 providers together for a training and orientation program. Now these providers are further trained on first response in burn care and know to refer patients to HOPE Hospital for burn reconstructive surgery and care. The Village Providers in exchange are supported with supplies, medicine and family discount cards to give to their customers to use at HOPE. It’s truly a win-win situation for both HOPE and the providers, and they have already begun referring a lot of patients to us for care. We could not be more pleased with this new outreach initiative.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Ashley Pugh
