Hamida is from Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh and is now twenty seven years old. She comes from a poor family and recently completed primary level education. At one time, Hamida was happily married.
Nine years ago, a severe headache determined the course of Hamida’s and she has been bearing the brunt ever since.
One winter evening, Hamida was warming herself by the fire after the delivery of one her children. Due to a sudden and acute headache Hamida lost her balance and fell on the fire, burning and damaging her hand. Hamida was aware of the instantaneous management of the burn injury but watering the wound was not sufficient to heal the damage.
The consequences of her burn injury were severe and disheartening. Hamida was divorced, rendered disable and could not earn a living. Her circumstances were far from ideal and as a result she used to avoid visiting relatives and neighbors. This injury was affecting all aspects of Hamida’s life.
People in the community believe that these occurrences are the result of living a dissolute life by her husband and that Hamida has fallen victim to unethical living. Many relate her circumstances to fate.
Before reporting to HOPE Hospital, Hamida had received two treatments at a government hospital. In early September, Hamida endured two operations at HOPE Hospital with the hopes of living a normal life, free of shame and suffering.
The surgeries were successful and Hamida and HOPE Doctors are confident her recovery will lead to a more productive and meaningful life.
Without your generosity and support, Hamida would not have been able to afford having more surgeries. Your contributions enable Hamida to work without disability. These operations have restored Hamida's faith and given her a second chance in life. She feels blessed and is grateful to have been given this opportunity to find purpose and meaning in life.
