Poor Orphan Girls Education Project

Dear Esteemed Donors,

Warm greetings from the Humanitarian Relief and Development Council (HRDC)!
We are pleased to share with you the latest update on our project “Educational Support for Orphaned Girls in Somalia.” Your steadfast support continues to illuminate the lives of vulnerable girls in our community and for that, we are deeply grateful.

Project Overview

Over the past year, your contributions have sustained the education of 20 orphaned girls aged between 13 and 24. With your generosity, we have maintained our core services:

• School Fees fully covered to keep the girls enrolled and attending without interruption.
• Uniforms and Clothing provided to ensure dignity, comfort, and school readiness.
• Learning Materials, including stationery and textbooks, consistently distributed to aid academic success.

Achievements This Year (August 2023 – May 2024)

We are proud to report that the girls have successfully completed their first academic year. Their growth has been remarkable, not only in academics but also in confidence and resilience.

Key milestones include:

• 100% retention of all enrolled girls across local accredited schools.
• Strong academic performance, with 70% scoring in the top quartile of their class.
• Life Skills & Mentorship Workshops delivered quarterly, covering topics like leadership, health, financial literacy, and goal setting.
• Improved emotional well-being, with increased participation and confidence observed among most students.

Challenges & Ongoing Needs

While we’ve made significant progress, we continue to face the following challenges:

• Limited digital access: Many girls still lack internet and device access for remote or supplemental learning.
• Growing demand: We’ve received applications from over 50 additional girls hoping to join the program—far exceeding our current capacity.
• Rising educational costs: As the girls advance, textbook and school supply costs are increasing, requiring enhanced financial support.

Looking Ahead

As we prepare for Year Two (August 2025 – May 2026), we remain committed to:

• Strengthening academic tutoring and mentorship sessions.
• Expanding digital literacy through mobile-based learning where possible.
• Exploring partnerships to scale the program and support more orphaned girls in Somalia.
