Dear Kind Donors and Supporters,

While we acknowledge that we did not reach our fundraising target during this reporting period, we are proud to share meaningful progress achieved through your unwavering support.

Thanks to your generous contributions, MHO has successfully conducted comprehensive Gender-Based Violence (GBV) training for 448 street-connected women with childrenat our Rehabilitation Center in Ethiopia.  These women often come from deeply vulnerable backgrounds—facing challenges such as extreme poverty, conflict, domestic violence, and marital breakdowns. As a result, many of them are disproportionately exposed to various forms of GBV, including physical, sexual, psychological, and coercive abuses, as well as deprivation of liberty.

To address these challenges, MHO implemented an intensive GBV awareness and prevention training during the women's rehabilitation period. The training aimed to:

  • Build understanding of key GBV concepts
  • Identify different forms of violence and early warning signs
  • Equip women with knowledge and tools to prevent and respond to violence against women and girls (VAWG)

Training Components and Methodology

The training sessions covered a range of topics, including:

  • Overview of Gender-Based Violence
  • Root causes and triggers of GBV
  • Preventative strategies for violence against women and girls

We employed a participatory and inclusive approach using the following methodologies:

  • Brainstorming and open discussions
  • Lectures and presentations
  • Q&A sessions
  • Role-playing exercises
  • Real-life case studies and practical demonstrations

Impact Achieved

As a result of the training:

  • Participants reported improved awareness of the signs and types of GBV
  • Women demonstrated increased confidence in recognizing and responding to abuse
  • Several participants expressed a renewed sense of agency in advocating for their safety and dignity

Next Steps: Moving forward, MHO will continue seeking additional funding to expand the reach of this vital work. Our goal is to ensure that no woman or child remains unaware of their rights or unequipped to protect themselves from violence.

We are sincerely grateful for your continued partnership and compassion. Your support is transforming lives—and with your help, we will continue advancing safety, dignity, and justice for vulnerable women in Ethiopia.
