Celebrating 25 Years!

By Nyaka Global | nyakaglobal.org

In 2026, Nyaka celebrates a remarkable milestone: 25 years of community-led impact in rural Uganda. What began with a simple promise to Nyakagyezi village, no grand blueprint, no global spotlight, just a deep sense of responsibility to children who had been left behind, has grown into a movement that has transformed tens of thousands of lives. From education and healthcare to economic empowerment for grandmothers, Nyaka’s work has always been rooted in families, powered by women, and guided by the belief that the most lasting solutions grow from within communities themselves.

One powerful example of this legacy is Brenda, a pioneer student from Nyaka Primary School’s very first class. As a young girl, Brenda was among the first children to receive an education through Nyaka’s promise. Today, she is a professional educator and serves as a Program Manager for Nyaka’s higher-education scholarship programs, helping the next generation of students access universities and vocational training. Her journey from student to leader, embodies what long-term, community-centered investment can achieve.

As we step into Nyaka’s 25th year, we reflect not only on how far we’ve come, but on the power of keeping a promise consistently, over time. This anniversary is about legacy, resilience, and people like Brenda who are living proof that when education is nurtured across generations, it becomes a force that sustains itself. Thank you for walking this journey with us and for being part of a promise that became a movement.
