Rural villages often wait hours for emergency help. This quarter, your support helped train local residents to respond when every minute matters.
With the heavy rains ending in January, we moved forward with Emergency Response training in two sub-districts. Thanks to your support and funding from The Brothers Trust, 150 participants were trained in February with the assistance of our Rotary Club advisors and the nursing team from McCormick Hospital.
Participants came from several villages, including the remote mountain community of Mae Wan Noi, home to about 50 families.
In Long Khot Sub-District, trainees represented three villages serving more than 600 residents.
McCormick Hospital nurses brought training mannequins so participants could safely practice CPR, and all trainees learned both CPR and the Heimlich maneuver to respond to choking emergencies.
Despite the remote location, 70 people attended the first training in Mae Wan Noi, including village health volunteers and designated emergency responders.
The second training was held at the Long Khot Sub-District Office, where local ambulance drivers joined the session.
Meanwhile, Soda continued our Access to Care visits to elderly and disabled residents with help from visiting volunteers from Canada, Belgium, and Iran. These visits provide companionship, wellness checks, and practical assistance.
Our refurbished Suzuki sedan has proven especially helpful for transporting elders who cannot easily climb into the trucks normally used for field visits.
Thank you for helping us strengthen the safety net for vulnerable elders and build lifesaving skills in rural communities.
With best wishes for the months ahead,
Dana, Michael, Evelind, and Soda.
