Introduction: The Humanity First Association of Cleaners, (HUFAC-Cameroon) is a community based non-profit organization that focuses on improving the wellbeing disadvantaged communities in Cameroon. One of the key areas of focus for HUFAC-Cameroon in Mentrual Hygiene Management. The organization has an ongoing project aimed at improving the menstrual hygiene of 3000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Kumba South West Region in Cameroon.

Objectives: The main objective of the project is to improve the menstrual hygiene management of 3000 IDPs in Cameroon. This can be achelieved through various activities including the distribution of menstrual hygiene kits, community sensitization on menstrual hygiene, and provision of reusable sanitation pads.

Activities: The project started with a need assessment to determined the challenges faced by the IDPs in managing their menstruation. Based on the findings, HUFAC-CAMEROON organized two community sensitization campaigns on menstrual hygiene management. The organization also distributed menstrual hygiene kits to 200 IDPs containing items such as soap, towels, pants, and sanitation pads.

In addition we also distributed 400 reusable sanitation pads to some of the IDPs as part of a sustainable solution to menstrual hygiene management. We intend to train a group of idps women on how to make the pads from locally available materials. This will not only provide the IDPs with a sourse of income but also helped to reduce the environmental impact of disposable pads.

Out comes: The project seeks to improve menstrual hygiene management among the 3000 IDPS, 2) provide menstrual hygiene kits, and reusable sanitation pads 3) insure access to clean & safe menstrual products, 4) reduce stigma on women, 5) increase awareness of menstrual hygiene.
