Rising above the shadows - Protecing women

By Julia Matthew | Managing Director

Dear Friend,

Thank you for your support in empowering women of Sex Trafficking in Mumbai by El Shaddai  Charitable Trust. Your generosity gives hope to women and girls who have survived unimaginable exploitation and are seeking a chance to rebuild their lives.

Mumbai remains a major source place for human trafficking, with thousands of women and girls exploited every year. Survivors often face trauma, stigma, and a lack of financial or vocational resources, leaving them vulnerable to re-exploitation. Many cannot access education or employable skills, making it extremely difficult to achieve independence and stability without practical support.

Your donation is invaluable and is helping the survivors generate income, regain dignity, and build stable lives free from exploitation. The long-term impact of this project is profound. On completion of the vocational course, women and girls will run their own tailoring businesses, reducing financial dependence and vulnerability.

They will serve as role models in their communities, demonstrating that recovery and independence are possible after exploitation. With secure livelihoods, survivors can support and educate their children and break cycles of poverty. By empowering survivors, the project contributes to safer, stronger communities and helps prevent future trafficking.

In the report period, more than 20 women and girls at risk of abuse and trafficking underwent intensive counselling. They have engaged in the livelihood training, and further, the counselled women and girls will be free of trafficking. The trainees are taking training on tailoring, embroidering, and bag making by starting self business.

We are thankful to our donors and Sponsors as, soon the trafficked women and girls will be free from human rights issues and sex abuse. We appeal to all supporters to continue supporting the needy women generously. Every donation helps transform the lives of these courageous women and girls, helping them step into independence with confidence and hope.

With Gratitude!

El Shaddai Family!
