Over the past three months, we’ve continued to do what we can to protect marine life, even as reduced funding has meant scaling back some of our activities. Thanks to your support, we were still able to carry out three beach cleanups, removing waste and plastic that could have caused serious harm to local marine ecosystems.
Unfortunately, with fundraising falling short of our goals, we’ve had to temporarily pause our community outreach and reduce the size of our research team. This has impacted our ability to engage with communities and collect the data we rely on to inform long-term marine protection strategies. It’s been a challenging period, but we remain committed to our mission and are focusing on what’s most essential while we work to rebuild.
During this time, we’ve also continued to make progress on our Living Sea Walls work in South Africa. While this is funded separately, it reflects our continued commitment to practical, innovative marine conservation, and we're learning valuable lessons that will feed back into this wider project.
Looking Ahead: GlobalGiving Bonus Day – 16–17 July
On 16–17 July, GlobalGiving will host its annual Bonus Day, offering an exciting opportunity to increase the impact of larger donations. Donations between $100 and $1,000 will be eligible to share in a $125,000 Incentive Fund. If you’ve been considering giving again, or if you know someone who might want to support this work, this is a great moment to do so. Every gift helps us move closer to restarting the outreach and research we’ve had to pause.
Thank you, as always, for being part of this work. We are still here, still determined, and still incredibly grateful for your belief in protecting our oceans and marine life.
