Project Report | Dec 18, 2016
Thank you for your support in 2016!

Thanks from the sharks!
Thanks from the sharks!

Dear Supporters,

From all of our staff, volunteers, local partners and the sharks we’d like to say a massive thank you for your amazing and generous support during 2016!

Our local partner organisation, Shark Guardian, is making a bigger impact on the ground because of you and your support. Your contribution may seem like a small contribution but when lots of us contribute for the same cause we manage to overcome many obstacles.

Our main project that we worked on this year, in conjunction with Shark Guardian, was the translation and printing of children’s books. The book was written by the founders of Shark Guardian and it aims to teach children about the overall importance of the sharks in our oceans and to help them understand the importance of protecting these incredible species. Your donations have been used to hire a local translator to translate this important message into Thai so that we can distribute them to the local schools in the new year. Your donations have also been earmarked to pay for the printing of the books. We look forward to sharing the news with you about how the books have been received and what impact they have!

During the course of 2016, we have participated and hosted a few fundraising events. The most notable were the Sand Shark building competitions held on the beaches at Khao Lak. All funds raised during these events have been contributed to Shark Guardian to assist the work that they do.

Our plans for 2017 are big! We would like to broaden the scope of this project so that we are able to assist more marine conservation partners in the Phang Nga region. For example, we are currently working on a turtle enrichment project and with additional funding we know that we will be able to enhance the scope and impact of this project. We also have a new pangolin project in the pipeline and would love to be able to secure funds so that we can buy the necessary equipment to get it off the ground! We hope that these sound as exciting to you as they do to us!

Once again, a massive thank you to each and every person who has donated to, and supported this project in 2016!

We wish you all a happy and prosperous 2017.

With Gratitude,
GVI Thailand
