2020 has indeed been an unprecedented year thus far. COVID-19 has affected nearly every country and person in the world. While the pandemic has caused a worldwide health crisis, it has also had devastating economic effects, especially in third world countries. Indonesia is no exception. Many families here that were already living at or below poverty level have now lost everything.

Because of your generous gifts, since March, we have been able to provide ceramic water filters to an additional 105 families in need. These filters will provide safe drinking water for two years, saving these families from waterborne illnesses and also from spending valuable resources to obtain clean drinking water.

Thank you so much for your loving generosity in providing clean water for families in need. There are now more families than ever in need of water filters. Please consider helping us reach our goal with another gift. $25 will provide a family with clean water for two years!

200 Families Helped so Far!

Big thanks to all of our amazing donors! We are now over halfway to reaching our project goal!

Because of your partnership and help, we have already been able to provide safe drinking water to 200 families in need! And we have more filter distributions planned for this month as well!

In January, much of West Java experienced bad flooding. With your help, we were able to provide 100 filters to flood victims in a nearby community. We have already begun following up with these families and the ceramic water filters they received have been a huge blessing in this time of struggle.

One recipient said, “I am so grateful to Pelita Indonesia and the sponsors for providing my family with this ceramic water filter. Before, we had to boil of our water which was expensive and time consuming. But now, we always have safe drinking water and the taste is so good and fresh.”

We also did two other water filter distributions in two different communities. 50 needy families in each of these communities were identified by their local government and were invited to come and receive a free ceramic water filter and hygiene training. All 100 of these families were extremely grateful. Most of these families said they had to boil their water before they could drink it. Their new ceramic filters will free up scarce and valuable resources for these families while also providing safe drinking water.

Did you know: Every recipient of one of our ceramic filters receives multiple in-home follow-up visits from our team of professionals. In these visits, we make sure the filters are being used and cleaned properly. We also teach and encourage healthy hygiene concepts for the family and community. Through these follow-up visits we have built deep lasting relationships and have seen families transformed!
