In many rural areas of Indonesia, especially East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), clean water is scarce. Over 70% of NTT faces a water crisis, and many schools have no access to safe water. Children spend hours fetching water instead of learning, and their health suffers as a result. This project will provide sustainable water access to over 140 schools, benefiting more than 26,000 students across Eastern Indonesia. Together, we can ensure every child learns in a safe and healthy environment.
Imagine starting your school day not by reading or playing, but by carrying buckets of water. This is the daily reality for many children in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. With little rainfall and long dry seasons, wells often run dry, forcing schools to buy water or rely on nearby villages. Around 50-60% of the schools we've rebuilt in Eastern Indonesia still lack access to running water. Without it, students face poor hygiene, especially girls during menstruation, and a higher risk of illness.
Our goal is to ensure every school has a reliable source of clean water by drilling deep wells, installing water pipes connected to toilets and handwashing stations, and creating a system for sustainable water use and maintenance. This initiative not only supports better hygiene but also strengthens the community's health and resilience. With clean water, schools become places where children can truly learn, grow, and thrive.
Access to clean water is essential for education, health, and dignity. By building sustainable water systems in rural schools, we help children, especially girls, attend class safely and comfortably. This project aims to enhance hygiene, reduce the incidence of waterborne diseases, and strengthen local communities. Clean water today means a healthier, brighter future for Indonesia's children.
