It’s October, and while the rains are lingering, the weather has cooled, bringing welcome relief and making it easier for the children to focus on their studies.
The students have just completed their mid-terms and are enjoying a short break between terms.
Our two high school seniors recently traveled to Chiang Mai University for open house events hosted by national universities as they prepare for their next steps.
It’s been a busy and engaging school year.
Our staff has been adding new evening activities to strengthen both social skills and brain development through playful learning.
The house often echoes with joyful laughter as the children compete in number games, build cup pyramids, and challenge each other in team activities designed to build coordination and confidence.
We’ve also had regular visits from the Rang Mai Library, a mobile literacy program created by our friends at the Book Worm Foundation.
Every other weekend, the library staff leads learning games and storytime, and the children check out books to read and exchange the following week. On a recent visit, a group of Japanese high school students joined in, bringing even more excitement and fun.
Homework time is supported six days a week by our after-school teachers and a volunteer from France. They help ensure the children grasp the core subjects, Thai, Math, and Science.
Our current volunteer is an agricultural engineering student, who spends her days working at the biochar kiln and evenings practicing English with the children as they complete their assignments.
During this short term break, some students return home to help out in their villages. Those who remain at Warm Heart pitch in with cleaning and planting around the farm, with plenty of time left over for soccer games and their favorite computer activities.
Thank you for making all of this possible.
Wishing you a joyful change of season,
Dana, Michael, Evelind, and the Warm Heart Family
