More than fifty farmers have benefited from corn and bean seeds for the next agricultural season.
Like many other rural areas, Ranja faces major food security challenges. Local farmers struggle to access quality seeds, compromising their ability to produce resilient and nutritious crops. Recognizing these challenges, CHSAN is committed to providing concrete support to producers to improve their situation and that of their communities.
- Objectives of seed distribution
1. Strengthening agricultural production: Providing seeds adapted to local conditions to increase crop yields.
2. Promote agricultural diversity: Encourage farmers to diversify their production to improve their food and economic security.
3. Farmer Empowerment: Promote producers' ability to become self-sufficient in seed supply while strengthening their knowledge of sustainable agricultural practices.
Details of the initiative
On August 13, 2025, CHSAN organized a seed distribution in the village of Ranja. During this event, CHSAN teams distributed seeds of local varieties such as maize, beans, and sorghum, selected for their adaptability and resilience to local climatic conditions.
The distribution was preceded by awareness sessions to help farmers understand the importance of seed selection and sustainable cultivation techniques. These workshops also included practical advice on soil management and the rational use of water resources.
Results and testimonials
The distribution has generated great enthusiasm among farmers. More than 50 producers have benefited from this support, and the initial feedback is very encouraging. According to Marie, a local farmer, “These seeds will transform the way we farm. We need sufficient harvests to feed our families and sell at market.”
