No Food Security Without Quality Seeds: A New Year, A New Commitment

As we enter 2026, the food crisis remains a pressing reality in Haiti, particularly in the Grand'Anse region. Despite the richness of our fertile lands, many communities lack access to quality seeds, a crucial element for ensuring food security.

At CHSAN, we firmly believe that democratizing access to seeds is essential to empowering farmers and improving food security in our communities. That's why, this year, we are intensifying our efforts to raise awareness among all stakeholders about the importance of equitable access to quality seeds.

Our initiatives for 2026 include:

Farmer Training: We will set up training sessions to teach farmers how to develop seed banks. This will enable them to conserve and reproduce their own seeds from harvests, thus ensuring sustainable production.

Raising Awareness Among Local Stakeholders: We will collaborate with community leaders, NGOs and institutions to promote the importance of access to quality seeds and encourage policies that support local production.

Capacity Building: By training farmers in modern cultivation and seed selection techniques, we aim to improve the productivity of their gardens, enabling them to produce enough food for their families and communities.

We firmly believe that through these actions, we can help create a future where every family has access to sufficient and nutritious food.
