The children in Residential homes celebrated 69th Independence Day on 15th August. It began with the Flag hoisting and the singing of the National Anthem - Jan, Gana, Mana and a few words of encouragement for the children and staff present by the Chief Guest. The homes organized games and competitions like drawing and singing of Partiotic songs. Cultural programmes were also organized where children and women put up different items show casing their talents. At the end of the programme the winners were given prizes.
To finish the day a short rally was conducted at Margao. It culminated at the Lohia Grounds. The chief guest was Shri Digamber Kamat present MLA of Margao constituency. The programme commenced with a briefing given to the children on the significance of the Independence day. Then the guests present light the lamp after which the crowd was addressed by the chief guest. During the event various patriotic singing and cultural dance competitions was also held. Students from various school participated with their lovely costumes and the glow of patriotism was felt. A group of Zumba dancers also presented and it added some zest the event.
The children had Ganesh Festival Holidays for a week. Some children had gone to their famility to celebrate the festival and others had a great time at the children's home going for walks, watching movies and participating in various fun activities like dancing, singing and drawing competetions.
The Wind-Up Penguin Theatre Company organized a new music-theatre show at Shanti Neketan School and El Shaddai Charitable Trust Centres from the 30 July2016 to the 4th of August 2016 . The Theatre company are a group of musicians, singers, actors, and technicians from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London, United Kingdom. Their performances and activity lasted for an hour and a half. The Group started with a show, and then continued with interactive musical workshop and games for the children. Our children enjoyed themselves and had a wonderful time.
