Since you last heard from us in October of 2025, SevaChild has provisioned another 1,000 families in Odisha with food rations in the wake of natural disasters. We have shifted to focusing on those left without the means to acquire basic necessities as a direct result of weather events such as flooding, landslides, cyclones, monsoonal rains, and droughts; unfortunately, the need for such relief far outstrips available resources. In keeping with our mission of serving the poorest of the poor, our efforts most often center upon denizens of the tribal communities in that State.
Situated on the Bay of Bengal, India's geographic position makes it vulnerable to the aforementioned meteorological occurrences; in fact, UNICEF reports that 27 of 29 Indian states are at risk with respect to such natural disasters. Unfortunately, poverty, high population density, and infrastructure deficits are all factors that exacerbate the effect of such events.
Accordingly, SevaChild is now making a concerted effort to increase available financial resources to ameliorate the devastating impact such weather events have on India's citizens. One $25.00 ration kit will sustain a family of five for one month, and in addition to comestibles, includes personal hygiene items and other basic necessities of daily life.
