Dear Friends,
We are pleased to report that two shipments of donated medications and medical supplies have been received by Association Saint-Camille de Lellis (ASC) in Benin.
A 20-foot container arrived by sea in February 2025. In addition to psychiatry medications, we included medicines for skin disorders, intestinal problems, and eyeglasses! These patients come with a myriad of psychological and physical problems that may have been long neglected. ASC aims to treat the “whole person” as a means of achieving lasting improvement.
An air shipment of 3 pallets arrived in May 2025. This air freight container included specialty medication that requires refrigeration.
Other expensive psychiatric medication included are ones that patients are asked to pay the equivalent of $5 USD/month if imported by a retail supplier. This cost is prohibitive for most patients, but ASC has been forced to raise the fee. However, no one is denied care.
Thanks to our partnership with MAP International, we are able to relieve a portion of the retail costs for both ASC and the patients. Your continued support helps ASC cover the costs of medications that must be imported at a high fee.
We will share the annual reports for 2024 when they become available from ASC.
As always, we are grateful for your support on behalf of ASC.
