The Dog Days of Summer have arrived at the ranch and the cats are not fans! It has been a hot, humid summer. Fortunately, much of the cattery enjoys full shade all day long day thanks to a wonderful oak tree. Three of the indoor portions of the cattery are also equipped with fans. The concrete pavers in the gazebo are definitely a popular cool place for the cats to stretch out during the hottest part of the day. Amazingly, the “Glass House” portion of the cattery still receives heavy use regardless of how high the temperatures rise. And of course, the cats get to choose the temperature zone that best fit their individual tastes.
On August 17, our cats were honored to be celebrated on National Black Cat Day. While our black cats look alike, they are each so wonderfully different. We used this day to encourage folks to consider adopting a black cat or two from their local shelter. Sadly, it is true that black cats are less likely to be adopted than any other cat color.
While we love all of the cats in the cattery, the magic of our black beauties is pretty special. We believe that Truman is casting a spell to bring us cooler weather soon.
Regardless of the weather, our cats are grateful to your generous gifts that make their lives at the ranch possible. Thank you!
