San Diego has been experiencing the hottest summer on record, for the second year in a row. Thanks to your generosity the cattery offers the cats a wide variety of areas choose from throughout the day and night. One house is in complete shade all day. A second house offers partial shade during most of the day. As the name suggests, the Glass House stays warm throughout the day. The gazebo, enclosed with wire and with a floor made of pavers is a very popular area on hot days.
The cats take the high temperatures in stride. Their most popular way of responding to high temperatures is their seemingly endless catnaps. The cats find the coolest, shadiest spots in the cattery and camp out during the hottest part of the day. Each cat clearly has his or her favorite spot(s).
The best catnaps can involve some unusual sleeping positions. Surprisingly, no matter how high temperatures get, the cats often choose to catnap together in piles.
Thanks to your generous support, the three main "houses" in the cattery are all equipped with fans. These window fans ensure that there is plenty of cooling air throughout the day.
Each house in the cattery has multiple bowls of water that are changed and filled regularly. Nicki regularly supervises water bowl cleaning and filling. He reminds everyone how important it is to stay hydrated.
Thank you for providing our cats with such a wonderful cattery, where they have plenty of cool spots for their catnaps.
