Spooky Cats and Scaredy Cats

Hello to all of our wonderful donors. We are back, after our GlobalGiving account was paused. We are once again active and are happy to continue to bring you updates on our ranch residents. Thank you for continuing your support for Horses of Tir Na Nog. We are so grateful.

That time of year has come around once again. The skies are getting darker, the nights are getting spookier, and the kitties are more mystical than ever. Most of the cats in our cattery are black cats and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Black cats are the least adoptable color of cats in shelters. Some people believe that they signify bad luck. Many of our cats have vision loss and feral tendencies that made them even less likely to be adoptable. This is why we are so grateful to donors like you. With your help we are able to provide a safe haven for these kitties. At Horses of Tir Na Nog, black cat season is all year round.

Speaking of spooky, two of our most “feral” cattery residents are slowly becoming more comfortable with our volunteers. Goblin is starting to emerge from his little cave. Thanks to the efforts of our amazing volunteers, Goblin is not as scared of human interaction. He will come up for a little treat, no tricks please. He’ll even allow a light pet if you come bearing tuna and refrain from too much eye contact.

Our other scaredy cat, Phantom, has also improved his social skills. Even though he is the largest of all our black cats, he is very shy. Though he has yet to accept a treat, he no longer hides at the sight of humans. We consider that a win in our book.

Your generosity keeps our cattery thriving. Whether our cats can’t get enough pets, like Carter, or they are more comfortable in the shadows, like Phantom, we could not be happier to provide a safe place for these kitties to call home. Thank you for all that you do for the residents of our cat house and have a wonderful spooky season.
