permaculture is the best
Dear Friend,
Warm greetings and thank you very much for your generous support to our initiative improving the rainforest areas. The main problem that we are facing at present is that the rainforest is being destroyed by rampant logging and by farmers needing additional land to farm. The biodiversity of the rainforest is gone and with it the changes in climate will affect farmers as typhoons become more severe and growing crops will be uncertain and no longer profitable. To help combat this, we are promoting the practice of permaculture by farmers by the growing of multiple crops and the raising of farm animals then recycling waste into high-grade fertilizer. We were able to support a total of 320 farmers during this reporting period and hoping that you will assist us continually. Thank you very much.
Very sincerely yours,
Jed Christian

Visit of agricultural expert
Dear Friend,
Warm greetings and thank you very much for supporting our project improving the biodiversity of our rainforest. Threats to our rainforest aside from climate change is very real and the need to improve, protect and conserve them is indeed of outmost urgency. One of our primary concerns is the extreme poverty in the countryside and the need to provide food and livelihoods to local people. This reporting period we are implementing a farm demonstration project which will showcase different low-cost farm technologies that can be easily copied by farmers. We are doing this with an initial effort of bringing in local experts knowledgeable about farming systems and agro-ecology. After this short visit we will be designing the most appropriate interventions for the model farm. Hoping that this new venture will succeed.
Again, thank you very much for your generosity.
Very sincerely yours,
Jed Christian

Crop diversification
Dear Friend,
Warm greetings and thank you very much for your generous support to our project improving the integrity of the rainforest in Mindanao. Our rainforest is very biodiverse being in the tropics however years of neglect and abuse has resulted to upland denudation and massive loss of biodiversity. The need to improve and enhance our forest environment really needs urgent attention and we can do this by working with local communities so that they are able to realize the value of our forest resources. This reporting period, we continue to develop our learning site for crop diversification and this is a showcase for farmers around the area. Aside from being a showcase they can also procure seeds and planting materials that they can use in their farms. The farm is 12 hectares and different crops are grown.
Hoping for your continuing support.
Very sincerely yours,
Jed Christian
