Raise-A-Child Campaign 2025
Rays of Hope Community Development Foundation

We are incredibly grateful to Raise-A-Child campaign donors for the generous and consistent support throughout 2025. Your contributions have directly impacted the lives of children in Alexandra, bringing hope, dignity, and stability to hundreds of young beneficiaries. Through your partnership, Rays of Hope has been able to provide not only the essentials for learning but also the emotional and developmental support necessary for a child to truly thrive.

Nourishment

Thanks to your donations, we were able to provide approximately 3,400 meals each month, ensuring that no child in our care went hungry. For children living in vulnerable households, these daily meals were often the most nutritious—and sometimes the only—meal of the day. This provision of regular, healthy meals had a tangible impact on their ability to concentrate, engage in class, and participate fully in learning activities.

Equipping for Success

Your support also enabled us to supply children with the necessary stationery and school supplies at the start of the year and classroom supplies. This meant that learners arrived at school able to learn with the necessary tools. In community where the cost of a schoolbag or a set of pencils can present a significant barrier, these seemingly small items had an outsized impact on children’s sense of inclusion and readiness to learn.

Restoring Dignity Through Psychosocial Support

Rays of Hope was also able to deepen its psychosocial support services, thanks in part to Raise-A-Child contributions. We conducted home visits by trained social workers and offered family counseling sessions that addressed underlying issues of trauma, neglect, and instability. These interventions played a crucial role in safeguarding children’s mental health, restoring a sense of dignity and belonging, and supporting families to create more stable home environments.

For many children, these visits were the first time an adult outside their immediate family had taken a compassionate and professional interest in their wellbeing. The impact is long-lasting: children become more engaged, more confident, and more hopeful about their future when they are seen and heard.

Emotional Development at the Foundation Phase

In our Early Childhood Development (ECD) programmes, your donations helped us introduce a structured life skills programme for 5- and 6-year-olds. Focused on emotional regulation and self-management, this initiative addressed one of the core developmental challenges faced by children in Alexandra: the inability to express or manage emotions in healthy ways due to early exposure to violence, neglect, or instability.

Through storytelling, games, role-playing, and creative expression, these young learners began to understand their emotions, develop empathy, and learn appropriate responses to everyday stressors—laying the foundation for healthier social interactions and improved school readiness.

A Heartfelt Thank You

We cannot overstate the difference your support has made. The Raise-A-Child campaign has not only helped us feed, equip, and counsel children—you have given them hope.

Thank you for continuing to walk this journey with us.
